We have just launched the new “Genre Match” feature to improve song matching.
How it works
Each song must have a music genre assigned to it before you can submit that song. You will need to select a music genre that you feel most closely reflects your song. You can do this by following these simple steps;
- Login in to www.audiorokit.co.uk
- Click “Manage Songs”
- Click the “Edit song info” button
- Tick the box next to a music genre that best fits your song (You can choose two genres)
Why do I need to do this?
There are several reasons for introducing this feature which benefit both you and the industry professionals we work with.
1. To stop spam
We had been seeing an increase in musicians submitting music to auditions that were not properly targeted. Our industry members only want highly targeted submissions and were becoming frustrated at receiving, say Rock songs when they clearly stated they want Jazz!
So, from now on your songs must match the auditions “accepted genres” to be sent. But don’t worry, you only need to match up one of your genre choices with the audition to get through.
Example; if you choose “Rock” and “Pop” as your two genre choices for one particular song, you will be able to submit that song to all opportunities that are accepting either Rock, Pop, or both, so long as you match at least one genre.
2. Automatic song submissions
We have plans to create a new feature for our musician members called “Automatic Song Submissions”.
Our plan is to provide a system where you can switch on (or off) auto-song submissions that allow us to submit your song(s) to relevant audition opportunities without the need for you to search or even log on!
This means that your music will be working hard for you even while you sleep!! This feature will be coming soon.
3. Better weekly matched opportunities
Now that we have the “Genre Match” feature, it means your weekly matched opportunities will be much more closely matched to what you are looking for.
Currently we can only send you opportunities that are relevant to the instrument you play, whereas with genre information we can start to match you with auditions that take into account your preferred genre also.
What if my song can’t be categorised?
We have kept the genre choices as generic as possible to ensure most songs will fit into a given genre group. You only need to select one genre that closely reflects your songs style (you can select two if you choose).
The pre-defined genres we’ve offer cover the major song styles so please try and select a close match even if you can’t find an exact match.
Remember that the industry will have the same genre options to choose. We didn’t want to offer hundreds of Sub-genre’s or it would become more unlikely that your music would match an industry genre selection! Great new developments. The genre selection will make the industry more confident to get music from you, which means they will listen to it properly when they get it. The automatic submission is really good! I’m very interested to see how that will work and definitely be encouraged to put more songs on rokit. All the best, more power to you!
