Before a business interacts with the real world it is just an idea. No matter how good an idea, there are no certainties that it will work for real.
My big idea was to create a platform that would help musicians get their songs through to industry decision makers without hassle and without costing too much.
So, how is my idea shaping up? Is it working?
Well, we launched in December 2010 and I am proud to say that not only is it working, but we’ve managed to achieve much more than we thought possible.
Member Success
With no capital investment whatsoever and with only 6 months in business, we have delivered 7113 songs to industry professionals and 494 of those were successful (meaning that those songs were selected for placements, deals or gigs).
I remember, the site had only been live for 19 days before we got an email from a member who said they had signed a pretty big management deal. We were probably more excited than they were at the time!
We’re now seeing more than 80 members a month being selected by management, record labels or for song placements, many of these will go on to sign deals and launch their music careers.

Price
We believe that we’re now the cheapest song pitching site in the world that guarantees feedback! Many pitching sites will charge ‘per pitch’ but we charge a low monthly subscription fee starting from £6.99/month.
So, if you were to submit to 20 opportunities within a month, that would work out at just 35p per pitch on our site!
We know that musicians pay close attention to the cost of services they use. When we launched our service we had a similar model to our competitors (Pay Per Pitch). However, it became clear that charging musician for each song they submit was adding up and costing them too much.
We made the decision to scrap ‘Pay Per Pitch’ and charge our members a low monthly subscription fee. This made it much more affordable and allowed our members to submit music to many more top industry professionals without worrying about costs mounting up.
Some competing song pitching companies will charge applicants for each submission they make and pay a portion (or all) of that submission fee to the industry professional. We don’t feel this is a good system as the industry professional could in theory use the submission fees as a revenue stream and not actually be looking for new music. The system we employ ensures that all industry professionals on our site are legit and not simply listing for submission money.
Guaranteed Feedback
We now guarantee feedback when you submit your music to an opportunity on our site. We had to develop our own internal alert system to make sure we can chase up every single submission. You can read the full story here.
Quality Opportunities
It would be easy for us to list sub standard or weak music opportunities, but that is not what we are about. Audio Rokit is about quality. We make sure all opportunities meet the following standards:
- Listed by a legitimate music company
- Actively seeking new music to sign
- The company must not ask our members for money
- No listing can ever be out of date
- The opportunities must be ‘aspirational’ in nature
All of our listings are vetted and checked by us personally to make sure they meet the above criteria. We’ve also installed a new feature that asks music industry professionals who list on our site to confirm each month that they are still seeking new music, thus ensuring we never have an out of date listing.
Ease of Use
I personally prefer websites to be simple and easy to use. We look to continually simplify the site and make it as easy as possible for our members to do what they need to do, without a load of unnecessary features getting in the way. Every couple of weeks we make time to go through and improve areas of the site, making our pitching platform clean, simple and very powerful.
