We have successfully implemented a unique feature aimed at increasing overall industry feedback. From June 26th all industry professionals who list on our site will have one month to review the applicants in their inbox.
Failure to do so will result in their listing being paused. This acts as a nice reminder to busy industry professionals and gives them a chance to listen and respond to members who have submitted material to them.
If their listing is paused for a full week we will send a polite reminder advising that their listing is still paused and is waiting for review. If no action is taken we will contact the company personally on behalf of our members to see if we can be of assistance. Two weeks after this we will remove the listing altogether so that our members never submit to dead or out of date listings.
The added side effect of this is it makes it impossible for us to have an out of date opportunity (because once a month we require the poster to confirm they are still searching for material) which is another welcome feature for our members.
Why have we chosen this system?
There are many pitching companies out there, all with different models. Some pitching companies will charge applicants for each submission they make and pay a portion (or all) of that submission fee to the industry professional.
We don’t feel this is a good system as the industry professional could in theory use the submission fees as a revenue stream and not actually be looking for new music. The system we employ ensures that all industry professionals on our site are legit and not simply listing for submission money. We wanted to be 100% sure of that first as that is our core responsibility to our members. We also did not want to charge for every submission as that can get costly for musicians.
